Questions about this bottle

Will Tolpuddle Chardonnay 2025 be restocked?

No. The 2025 Chardonnay sold out and Tolpuddle's own allocation list for Chardonnay is full, so we cannot source more of this vintage. We are keeping the page live so you can still find the wine's details, and we will only list a later vintage if our supplier offers us an allocation.

What is similar to Tolpuddle Chardonnay?

Two good places to start: Savaterre Chardonnay 2024, an estate wine from a mature, close-planted vineyard in Beechworth, Victoria, and Tolpuddle's own Pinot Noir 2024, grown on the same Coal River Valley site. Our Chardonnay collection lists every other cool-climate Chardonnay we have ready to dispatch from Sydney.

Where is Tolpuddle Vineyard?

Tolpuddle Vineyard is in the Coal River Valley in south-east Tasmania, near the historic town of Richmond and roughly twenty minutes from Hobart. The vines face north-east on light silica over sandstone, and the area is cool with relatively low rainfall, around 500mm a year, which suits Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

About the 2025 Tolpuddle Chardonnay

Tolpuddle Vineyard sits in the Coal River Valley outside Richmond in south-east Tasmania, planted in 1988 on a north-east-facing slope of silica and sandstone. The 2025 season began with near-average winter rain and a slightly drier spring that helped flowering; a mild summer and a cool, dry run to veraison gave slow, even ripening, and picking was a little later than in recent years.

In the winery the fruit was picked by hand and pressed as whole bunches, fermented in French oak, kept in barrel for ten months with gentle lees stirring when needed, then rested on lees in tank for another four months. Tolpuddle describes the result as powerful yet precise: white flowers, jasmine and a savoury lees character, a firm acid backbone with lime zest and tonic notes, and a subtle grip on the finish.

Tolpuddle bottles just two wines from this site, a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir.
