Negroni Recipe: Equal Measures and a Shopping Guide

Over 18s only. Please enjoy responsibly.

A classic Negroni combines equal measures of gin, Campari and sweet red vermouth. For one cocktail, use 30ml of each. This guide follows the International Bartenders Association specification, with a shopping check for the current Spirit Street range.

Negroni ingredients for one serve

  • Gin: 30ml
  • Campari: 30ml
  • Sweet red vermouth: 30ml
  • Ice and half an orange slice

How to make a Negroni

Fill a short glass with ice. Measure the gin, Campari and sweet red vermouth into the glass, stir gently to combine and finish with the orange. Measure each ingredient rather than estimating the pour. A cocktail can contain more than one Australian standard drink; check the labels and keep water and alcohol-free alternatives available.

What can I buy at Spirit Street?

Four Pillars Spiced Negroni Gin 700ml is a named gin option. Four Pillars developed this expression for Negroni-style mixing; its own recipe also uses equal measures of gin, Campari and sweet red vermouth. Compare the current Campari Bitter Aperitif 700ml listing for the bitter component.

Sweet red vermouth is separately required. It is not part of either bottle listing, and we have not verified a stocked vermouth listing in our current range. Obtain it separately, along with the orange and ice. Check the complete ingredients before ordering; the gin and Campari alone do not make the full recipe.

Negroni questions

Is Spiced Negroni Gin a ready-made Negroni?

No. It is the gin component. You still need Campari and sweet red vermouth for this measured recipe.

Can I use dry vermouth?

The specification here calls for sweet red vermouth. Dry vermouth is a different choice and changes the recipe, so check the label when shopping.

What should I check on the bottle?

Confirm the expression, bottle volume, selected sale unit and alcohol strength. Prices and availability appear on the product pages. Browse the wider gin collection or liqueurs and aperitif listings for other named options.
