In Tamil, Kadhambam means 'mixture' or 'combination', which is fitting for this whisky as it is matured in rum, sherry, and brandy barrels. Tasting note: Shiny copper. An aroma that is packed with intensity, typical of this distillery; a fusion of sweet spices, charred oak, and nuttiness on the nose. Quite complex. After 3-4 minutes, a peaty aspect emerges with smoldering cedar and burning pine cone (?) flavors. It is bold yet well-balanced, with the hefty malt complemented by energetic notes of pepper and dried fruit in the mouth. The finish is slightly acidic, tannic, and chewy, with hints of woody cigar box and dried fruit in the fade. With so much going on, the definition may be lost. Perhaps one barrel too many in the mix?
