Geoff and Scott undertake a meticulous blind tasting to select only the finest barrels from their McLaren Vale vineyards for this Reserve Shiraz. A highly aromatic nose reveals spice, berry fruit, violets and vanilla bean, followed by savoury layers of meat, herbs, leather and fresh cashew. On the palate, rich dark red berry fruits meet firm tannins that signal excellent cellaring potential. The wine flows seamlessly from start to finish with clean acidity and a mouthfeel built for serious food pairing. Pair with Angus T-bone, slow cooked beef brisket, Hoisin beef, or slow cooked Swiss Brown mushrooms with soy and garlic. An earlier vintage shaped by mild conditions and lower-than-average rainfall. Dry weather from August necessitated supplementary irrigation, while sporadic hot days allowed natural acids and low pH levels to develop beautifully.
